Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Irene Gómez has been praised by musical magazines like Classical Guitar Magazine (United Kingdom) and Soundboard (USA) as "wonderfully expressive guitariste with great musicianship and creativity."
She has performed as a soloist and as chamber musician in cities as Paris, Metz, Dijon, Bergerac, Basel, Liestal, Brno, Olomouc, New York, Washington, Chicago, Dallas, Erie Pa., Caracas and Bogotá, among others.
Irene Gómez is a holder of the Gold Medal in Guitar and Chamber Music from Claude Debussy Conservatoire in France with Javier Quevedo. She received the "Fin d'études" diplome at Paris XV Conservatoire with Betho Davezak, and was the first person graduated as a guitarist from the Colombian National University in 1991 under the guidance of Ramiro Isaza.
Due to high demand around the world, Ms. Gomez Cds Sunset Guitar (2000), En los bosques (2004), Images (2006) and Estudios and Fantasias (2010), have been re-released in new editions and have enjoyed of outstanding reviews from critics and audiences as well.
She has been soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá, and the Orchestra of the Music Conservatory. At the moment Irene Gómez pursue the Master in Music with Sharon Isbin at The Juilliard School in New York.
