The young guitar player Irene Gómez, goleen medal at the saint German-en-laye France conservatory, with this record, faultless but non aseptic- in her sonorous technique, leaves a good testimony of her art and professionalism. This record covers a wide repertoire, she is in her element with Manuel Maria Ponce´s ¨Tema Variado y Final¨ ( final and varied theme) and Tarrega´s ¨capricho arabe¨ (Arabian whim), she plays with authority and taste Leo Brouwer´s ¨la berceuce¨ and Agustín Barrios´s ¨la catedral¨ ( the cathedral), she has refinement in Villalobo´s ¨2 choros¨, she impeccably handles the Gentil Montaña´s ¨suite colombiana¨and she triumphs with the almost impossible Antonio Lauro´s vals, which she masters and recreates in her rythms: playing it is hard enough… recreating it results almost amazing.
Fifty minutes of good guitar, there is a warm sound, taste and certain personal touch when finding the suitable color is all about…

Irene Gomez In The Woods
- ¨ With 11 works which reflect a balanced combination between technique and music sensitivity, the guitar classic performer Irene Gómez brought out her second recording project. Most of the pieces belong to Latin American songwriters such as Manuel María Ponce, Amos Coulanges and Ramiro Isaza. IN THE FORESTS was produced in Colombia, in alliance with the record house Millenium, and it introduces the unmistakable style of this national artist, who can take the senses to each of the places or scenarios that the title of the opuses proposes, thus, the guitar turns into the means between who listens and the ¨warrior´s harp¨, one of the names of the works…-
